Concrete & asphalt saw SQ16 PRO
Straight, deep cuts in slab and roadway.
View detailsSolution by job
To cut asphalt or concrete, use a floor saw with a diamond blade, cut wet and go down 2 to 5 cm per pass. The SQ16 PRO (13 HP Honda GX390) cuts up to 130 mm deep with 300 to 450 mm blades and comes with two 400 mm blades. On a public road, sign off the zone before you start.
Also called: floor saw, walk-behind saw, road saw
Field rules
Wet-cut whenever you can: it cools the blade, extends its life and kills silica dust (the kind that makes you sick).
Depth per pass: 5 cm max. Forcing the full cut in one pass overheats the blade and bogs the engine.
Concrete blade for concrete, asphalt blade for asphalt: the diamond bond differs and swapping them eats the blade.
Snap a chalk line and follow the saw's guide: a crooked cut can't be straightened later.

Job: Cut concrete and asphalt
FAQ
The SQ16 PRO reaches 130 mm (5.1″) with the largest blade. Don't do it in one go: go down 2 to 5 cm per pass until you hit the depth you need.
Asphalt → asphalt blade. Concrete → concrete blade. The diamond is bonded differently in each: asphalt is abrasive and quickly wears out a concrete blade. If you cut both on the same job, keep one of each.
Water cools the blade, extends its life and knocks down silica dust, which damages the lungs. The SQ16 PRO has a 30 L water tank for wet cutting.
Almost always from trying to cut full depth in one pass or pushing the saw too fast. Go down 2 to 5 cm per pass, let the blade work at its own pace and don't cut dry.
Yes. Before cutting on a public road, set up the closure: advance warning, a taper with cones or drums, the work zone and the end. Everyone in a reflective vest.
