Break with a hydraulic hammer
A hydraulic breaker is chosen by the machine that carries it: weight, oil flow and pressure have to match. SIMAQ has three: the DB 40V for skid steers (325 kg, 35–70 L/min), the DB 60V for backhoes (412 kg, 40–110 L/min) and the DB 200DX for 20 t excavators (1,577 kg, 120–170 L/min).

Do it right the first time

Field rule: the breaker is matched to the carrier class (skid steer, backhoe or excavator) and its hydraulics; confirm it with your advisor before mounting.

Strike 15–30 seconds per spot, then reposition. Hammering a spot that won't break overheats the piston.

Never pry with the breaker: the boom pays the bill. It breaks by impact, not leverage.

Chisel at 90° with the machine's weight on it before striking. Striking into thin air (dry-firing) is the fastest way to wreck a breaker.

Which hydraulic breaker do I need for my machine?
Skid steer → DB 40V. Backhoe → DB 60V. Excavator of about 20 t → DB 200DX. Before you buy, check that your machine's flow and pressure fall in the breaker's range; the advisor confirms it with your machine's model.
How much oil flow does a hydraulic breaker need?
It depends on the model: the DB 40V takes 35–70 L/min, the DB 60V 40–110 L/min and the DB 200DX 120–170 L/min. If your machine delivers less, the breaker hits weak; if it delivers far more, you punish it.
What is dry-firing and why does it damage the breaker?
It's striking without the chisel pressed against the material. All the energy comes back into the breaker and the boom. Set the chisel at 90°, put the machine's weight on it, then strike.
How long do you strike in one spot?
15 to 30 seconds. If it doesn't break, move the chisel to another spot: persisting overheats the tip. Start at a free edge, not the center.
What maintenance does a hydraulic breaker need?
Grease the chisel bushing often, with the breaker vertical. Check hoses and couplings for leaks before every shift.
