How to size lighting for your night jobsite
Work doesn't stop at night, but poor lighting multiplies accidents and mistakes you redo by day. Sizing it right comes down to three factors.
more light, less diesel
mast height
mast rotation
Coverage area and mast height
The higher the mast, the more area a tower covers with fewer shadows. Estimate your work front in square meters and choose the tower by coverage, not just by number of lamps.
LED, not halogen
LED lasts longer, burns far less fuel and gives better color and reach than halogen. For repeated shifts, the diesel savings cover the difference fast.
Runtime for the full shift
Count your shift hours and check runtime on a full tank. A Kubota or Kohler diesel covers long nights without refueling. If you also need power for tools, look at towers with outlets or a separate generator.
Takeaway
Size by coverage (area + mast height), choose LED and confirm runtime for the full shift. Send us your work-front size and we'll tell you which tower covers it.
