5 minHow to use the light tower
Set a light tower on firm, level ground with the outriggers down, aim the lamps before raising the mast, and keep the mast down in high wind. SIMAQ has the NIGHTMASTER 350LED (4 × 350 W LED, 7 m mast that rotates 350°) and the SQTLK 6000 (9 m mast), both with a Kubota D1105 engine. On large fronts, cross the light of two towers so no shadows are left.

The light tower keeps the site working safely at night. Well placed, it lights up without glare or shadows.

Set on firm, level ground
Park clear of traffic on even ground. Lower and lock the outriggers before touching the mast.

Aim the lamps before raising
Aim the floodlights toward the work front with the mast down: it's safer and more precise.

Start the engine, switch on lights
Start the diesel, let it stabilize and switch the lamps on one by one.

Raise and rotate the mast
Raise the telescopic mast in low wind and rotate to cover the area. Lock the rotation.

Cover shadows with a second tower
On a big front, cross the light of two towers to kill dark spots. Size how many you need.

How many light towers do I need?
It depends on the area and the type of work; on large fronts, cross the light of two towers to kill shadows. The guide on sizing night-site lighting and the light-tower lesson walk through the math.
LED or metal-halide tower: which one?
If you want full light the moment you switch on → LED (NIGHTMASTER 350LED, 4 × 350 W). If you need a taller mast → SQTLK 6000, which goes up to 9 m and uses metal-halide lamps.
Can you raise the mast in wind?
Not in high wind: lower the mast and wait. Never move it with the mast up or set it near power lines.
What's the most common light-tower mistake?
Aiming the lights at the road or into the crew's eyes. Aim at the work front, from above, so nobody gets blinded.
How often does the light tower need an oil change?
On the NIGHTMASTER 350LED and the SQTLK 6000: engine oil and filter at the first 50 hours, then every 200 hours. Check the oil level every 8 hours, i.e. every shift.
