Level, firm base
Set on leveling jacks and base plates over compacted ground. Never on loose bricks or planks.
- 02
Frame + cross-brace
Raise the frames and lock both cross-braces per section: bracing is what gives rigidity.
- 03
Full, locked platform
Cover the full width with platforms and engage the anti-tip locks. No gaps to misstep.
- 04
Guardrail and internal access
Above a certain height, perimeter guardrail and toe-board. Climb the internal ladder, never the braces.
- 05
Lock casters or tie to structure
If rolling, lock the casters while working. At height, tie the scaffold to the structure.
Do this
- Level with jacks before raising the first lift.
- Lock the casters whenever someone is up top.
- Inspect parts: nothing bent, deeply rusted or cracked.
Avoid this
- Don't move a rolling scaffold with people or material on top.
- Don't improvise platforms with loose boards.
- Don't exceed the platform's working load.
Safety
- Harness when there isn't a complete guardrail.
- Chin-strap hard hat, boots and gloves.
- Clear the zone of objects that could fall.
